had 86 cj 7 bought for $1000. had fire under hood. had to wire up. used wiring out of 78 cj5. had all kinds of wiring gremlins. lifted w/ 35's. what i've done. wired w/ cj5 wiring, lowered to 33 swampers, new seats, reciever on front for winch in cradle. mounted box for tools in the bed, mounted hi-lift on the front bumper, dual battery controller, plate for switches where speaker grill was, removed t-5 n dana 300 n install t-150 n dana 20, and odds n ends to get running. what's to come rewire w/ new wiring kit, brake booster, 401 w/ fuel injection being installed, new diff covers, wiring for winch at front or rear, new front brake lines, lockers front n rear, regearing axles, teralow in transfer case, full cage. 258 has been pulled waiting for the header for the 401 so i can install and start wiring. Also waiting on diff covers, brake lines, and other items i can't remember.

yes it is but has a few upgrades. cam, elderbrock intake, msd distributer dui, and in frame headers. and of course the holley fuel injection

got diff covers on today after wife's list around the house. these riddle covers are kool. bolts instead of allen bolts, recessed in and they moved the fill plug up 2 inches.

headers came today, got them on, was going to put motor in sun but now making a parts run. rob is picking up a 4.0 n doing a head swap on the 258, i'm picking up a dana 30 from a yj n pulling the lockrite out for the cj.

i know i need to get some pics up here. got big daddy steering brace on last week. rob built his front bumper this weekend. and finally got the 401 in. Still got to finish hooking everything up. then the fun of putting the new wiring kit in.

well getting ready to fly to philly for a week but did work on the jeeps yesterday. got robs rear diff cover on and big daddy tie rod/drag link on. mine is due in on mon. started working on wiring, deciding where to mount the fuse box. going to fab a plce up, so got the idea together. decided that with the roll cage not going to be able to run the hard doors so will be selling those n trading my dad my hard top for his soft top. lots to do...

Ive got the same Big Daddy tie rod and drag link set up on the Scrambler very happy with it.
Have a safe trip to philly and get some pics up when you can. Im dying to see that 401!:2thumbsup:

got a late start on the jeep today. but got the fuse box mount, had to make a mount for it. then cut access panel in the dash to get to fuses. took an old glove box cut it into three pieces and welded 2 of them together to make a cover for the fuse box. took some pics today will get them up tomorrow.

got the vent tube on the front axle fixed. it was missing so i drilled the hole tapped it n put a break connector for a dodge has hole in the middle and is threaded and can put a hose on it for vent, worked perfect. also put lockrite in the carrier but haven't put it back together yet. was debating on chromoly shafts n new hubs but think i'll wait for now. 30% stronger for $650. still trying to figure out pics what sites does everyone use to link or get pics up?

You can however load them directly to this site,I wont swear to thgat just yet as Matt and JT are making a few changes and are still working out a few bugs. The gold jeep of your friend's Mike is my old CJ7. I miss that Jeep so much. Do you know if he has the steering wheel that was in it when he got it. I have the diamond plate piece that goes across the back to match if he wants it. Sorry to be off topic but I loved that Jeep but needed at truck.

steering whell is now in my dad's yj. he might want the back piece. the motor went out on him now he's putting another motor in it.

that be him. all those parts are from his jeep before urs that got totaled. will heading to the garage to put the front end back together. got lockrite in yesterday had to wait on new nuts n washers for the spindle plus the socket to fit. working on a guy that has a powertrax for the rear.

got the front end back together. now gonna put the e-brake in and got to change the drivers side rear wheel cylinder. i get some pics of the e-brake when i get it in.

well got the new e-brake mounted n almost hooked up. went with an xj setup. hopefully get pics up tomorrow or mon. replaced wheel cylinder while i had it down. got to order new brake line for the rear, already replaced the front. wiring tomorrow. oh n replacing the wedges on rear axle. one on drivers side is broke.

got wiring in the cab started yesterday, worked some more today, plus changed the wedge on the drivers side gonna leave the passenger side since its a pain to replace n its not broken. look over some wiring diagrams tonight n work on it some more tomorrow. started with about 36 items on the list for the jeep couple of weeks ago n down to about 25.

got tail lights wired up earlier n started making a mount for the tach. working open til close til mon, so not going to get much done this week.

finally got the rear brake lines installed yesterday. got the rear lights working except the turn signals. wired some under the hood, got the headlights hooked up. so still have the gauges rest under the hood and power to the backup lights, then figure out what is wrong with the turn signals. hazards work but no turn signals. gonna check the wiring on the column. taking the sept 11-14 off to build cages.

well got the front bumper welded up so i can use the reciever n winch without it coming off. got the radiator in today but didn't get the hoses on yet. had more parts delivered today. not sure how much i'll get to this weekend, working tomorrow, sat, n sun, but off mon n tues. hoping to finish wiring and get it so it will move under its own power. starting the cage build next weekend be off 5 days.

Would love to see more pics as well. Where are u mounting the ECM for the howell kit? Planning on another Howell kit for Kay's rig would like to your input. Ive done 3 conversions on 258's soon to be 4. Any real differnce between the I-6 and V-8 kits? What amperage does the fuel pump pull?

got the jeep started today must have done something right with the wiring. loud without mufflers. gonna get video of it without mufflers. i'll post some pics soon. working on the wiring in the cab. then hook brakes, clutch linkage n put steering wheel back on n should be road ready. sat starts 5 day vacation of cage building.

got rear tached up pulled it out for welding gonna finish that tonight then prime it. then tomorrow reinstall n put front hoop in and add support bars to main hoop n hopefully will be pretty much done. well gonna finish eating then back at it. get more pics up soon

well few more things to finish up, but rear locker came today but it is on the back burner for now til i get it back on the road.

got the wiring finally done, all but horn n dome light. made bracket for the throttle cable. put cb ant on n hooked up. the best part tried to put soft top on n will not work with the cage. when we measured we measured for the hard top, thought it would work with both but won't work with the cage. well 2 options 1. run with hard top n no doors. 2. run with bikini top n soft doors. either way its gonna get cold this winter.

got alinement done, spark plug wires, clutch fixed, rob's tranny changed

got axle ujoint replaced in robs. got mine tuned in tonight do a little fine tuning, also got exhaust on. did not get locker in the rear. but it is back on the road. play with it this week n plan on being at the ride sat.

fixed the wheel studs the other day. rob came over today, we mocked up a fan shroud. went up to my dad's neighbor n had him bend the sheet metal(he does heating n air). gave me his circle cutter to cut holes for the fans. got it on now i have 2 fans, if this doesn't cool it down then i guess i'll have to get a better radiator. robs coming over wed got to find the oil leak, antifreeze leak. then in the near future fix drivers side axle seal on the rear n put the lockrite in. Josh, if you read this i sent you a pm right after the ride on potts.

well decided to put rear locker n fix axle seal leak. ordered new cross shaft last fri along with bluefab rockers. well they shipped cross shaft like mon or tues still not here only thing keeping jeep from going back together. going to pick up t-176 tranny this weekend. now to find a dana 300.

well got rear back together had to order carrier bearings. they came today so all back together. now only thing left is rerun my heater hose so i have heat. locker front n rear now.

got the heat hooked back up hopefully no more water leaks. now need to pull the trailer in and start work on it. check lights, make cover for winch, take battery off and setup quick connects for winch on trailer, check brakes and build ramps.

i'll take some pics tomorrow n get them up. well i drove it todayn i've never driven with a locker on the road. little different. also found out the antifreeze leak has not been fixed. looks like i'm tapping the bolt hole where thermostat housing bolts onto the intake. it was fun for a day

Locker does take a lil getting used to but I only really notice mine when turning under light throttle ie parking lots, turns from a stop, etc. Lockrite is much more forgiving and less noisy than a detroit.

I got a pressure tester you can borrow if you havnt tracked down the coolant leak . . . makes them real easy to find.:yup:

well i'm almost ready to fix the cj and get it back on the road. been off since dec. got trailer finished, been working on the garage. got almost all the osb up and reorganizing and throwing a bunch of junk away. bought a new coil today for the jeep, see if that helps. working all weekend so won't have much time to finish the garage this weekend.

haven't updated in a while. got jeep on the road awhile back. had an overheating problem put header wrap on changed thermostat from stock 190 to a 160, put purple ice in cooling system and fixed electric fan. 2nd gear in the t150 is making a noise. so going with a t176 dana 300 setup. got t176 last year rob got a 300 about a month ago, had to get the adapter between tranny n transfer, got one off ebay. now need rebuild of transfer and lowmax or teralow. i found a link to make the twin stick for $25. here is the link http://www.nc4x4.com/2011/02/the-25-dana-300-twin-stick-mod/
