My first Jeep. After finally talking the hubby into the Jeep thing, we started looking and found this one on E-bay. 1993 Country, it had a 3 inch lift on 31’s. A good start was my first thought. Went to Ohio and brought it home. The guy said it was pretty dirty inside and out, boy he wasn’t kidding! He must have gone mudding in it before he sold it. Not only was it covered with mud on the outside, but the inside was too. The carpet stunk and was moldy, and once it was taken out I found out why it was wet in the first place…..rust…
I spent weeks gutting the inside and then just cleaning it well enough to prep for the new floor.

Before the new floor:

After the new floor:

Found paint to match later, turned out real nice.

After the floor was done, we had to put a new T-case in it ( used, but new to me). After some more work, I soon realized that to get this Jeep to pass inspection would cost me more than I wanted to put into it. That’s when the 94 came home and the decision was made to make the 93 an off road only vehicle.

So last April the Safari Buggy project began. First step, remove the body. I began with removing the fenders and anything off the front.

In May, while I was off judging the RCPFA comp, Bob went crazy with the saw-zall:

The windshield is gone now to.

Next will come a cage that I will integrate with the frame reinforcements and the sliders that I have and have been waiting 3 years to put on ;) . Relocate the gas tank (I welcome any suggestions on this one) 5 point harness, custom made removable bikini top for those hot sunny days on the trail. I have decided on the paint theme as well, but I dont want to giveit away just yet.
I have other ideas that I am still investigating like axel upgrades to run 35’s, possible 4 link, not sure what locker I will go with. I am not in any big hurry to complete this and will buy items as I find them and as money permits. First priority is the 94 and my custom all weather tube doors…..

There are more pics in my album.

Well this is how I think you should trim it.

As far as moving the gas tank just build a small frame and mount it in the back. Or you just cut a hole in the floor the size of the tank and set it in. The lip on the tank holds it. Then just secure it down. Here are some pics of a buddy's xj that I really like.

Me likey too! Oh and I love the green... The gas tank placement looks like a better idea than the location I was thinking of. But what your friend has, is not too far from what I have in mind....now I am getting excited!

Nice Michelle! It's fun when you have a project like that you can just tinker with, and don't feel like you have to get it done.
I have thought about doing something like this with my old XJ, but right now I already have too many projects. I have also become addicted to my MJ!
I look forward to seeing the progress, as slow as it may be :2thumbsup:

nice work on the floors Michelle! I'm doing that right now and it's finally starting to look like progress. I had to tear out the whole cargo area, and replace all the floor boards up front too. It should look nice once I get it all covered with Herc.:yup: I hope ur suprise choice of paint isn't pink...:puke:
It is isn't it?:D

That green in John Deere green.

My xj will go that route someday. However I still like my roof, ac and heat.

:rotflmao5: While I do like pink, I promise, there will NOT be pink anywhere on this Jeep!
