I spent a couple of hours out riding the back roads getting use to the front auto locker in the snow. I like it better in 4wd for slowing down, when in 2wd the front wants to lock up and slide.

All in all I like it in the snow, it does great but I will most likely drive the van if there is ice:D

I also got the JK out and after owning it a year and a half we finally got to lock it into 4wd and it does great.

I took the wife out and showed her all about handling it around turns and slowing down.

She was impressed at how it got such great traction taking off:yup:

This is her first Jeep and she is impressed at how well it did compared to her Trooper years ago.

It was a fun day, I'm glad we finally got some snow.

I didn't go out to play but I did go out and smoething is messed up with the 4wd in the xj. I'm getting a loud clank almost like something is getting in a bind and it happens mostly when I have the wheels turned. If I am going straight then it comes and goes. Also 4wd low won't stay engaged.

Check and make sure the linkage is adjusted correctly. The front will "pop and crack" on a XJ on hard turns especially in reverse. All of mine do that, (I think its just a solid axle thing) but should be smooth in a straight line or slight curves. You may want to check the axle U-joints if its real bad.

I got out earlier in the afternoon before they got the plows out....We had about an inch on the roads that made it fun...But there were way too many peopl out driving around, i had 3-4 people come very close to hitting me because they couldn't stop. Hopefully we get some more tonight that the plows can't keep up with.....

Test drove a truck then came home cause I was trying to avoid the boat show.:rolleyes-1:

Had to go get groceries for us and make the usual snow runs for my family in the area.

Just happened to find myself in an empty parking lot along the way. . . . . DOUGHNUTS!:thumb:

Yeah I know teenage fun . . . . still fun at 34!;)

Have I mentioned I don't like snow.

I grew up with it. I don't mind getting out to play in it every now and then. Today I have a meeting in narrows I'll most likely postpone.

The wife did drive back from Charlotte yesterday. She grew up in Erie, PA where they get the lake affect snow, so I wasn't worried.

i got out...but it wasn't to play. i had been back on the shore spending time with my ailing grandmother. i was going to try to beat the weather, but i failed

this is NOT what i wanted to see on 460. my 6 hour and 15 minute drive turned into a 8.5 hour drive. 460 west-bound was untouched by plows up till about lychburg and bedford. normally i welcome unplowed roads. but not when i'm driving across the state.

i'd like to have a dollar for every idiot that passed me, only to wreck a mile up the road

Thats funny.......I have a 3 y.o. black and tan mini named Roscoe who hates the snow and a 7 month old red mini female (Daisy) who can't eat enough snow!!!!! Back on thread, We went thru Broad Run about 9 last night and it was snowing pretty good and overall a fun ride. This am went out a little early and hit some of my favorite streets in Vinton!!!! Lots of fun!!!

I wouldn't mind hitting Crozet in the snow. Although I'd have had to store my rig up there and just go drive it. I wouldn't want to trailer it in the snow. Although I have before it's just not fun.

I was going to post on here and complain about my drive home yesterday, but you've got me beat Fitch.

I had been to see my Dad in the hospital this weekend in Big Stone, so what was normally a 3.5 hour drive turned into 5 and I didn't get home until 8.

Although I do have to admit, despite the weather and me being worried about the temps dropping and everything freezing, I still made a stop in Christiansburg because (VTCraig on here) had just finished his long arm kit and I had to see it. So the extended trip wasn't ALL weather-related :2thumbsup:

I drove from Vinton to Rocky Mount via Hardy road this morning. I pulled out 3 people on Hardy Road, then one guy in Rocky Mount in a 2wd ranger who was blocking the road as he couldn't get up the hill.

Went out this mornin, got some great pics of the Peaks of Otter and some other misc pics. I managed to get out before the plows and Dazydg did great on the roads, I had never had her out in snow and was eager to get out there. Got a lot of looks from the few folks that were out, but thats nothing new...
I am however embarrased to say that I did get stuck...in my own backyard :rolleyes-1: I have never had a problem before. It it is very steep and its wooded too. Going down wasnt an issue, but I could not get back up.....so I left it down there. I'll try again later. I have some sweet talkin to do...Oh honey...! ;)

I'll post my embarassing pics later.

I went 4 wheeling up at Cheaders Mountain ( I think thats how you spell it) with my mom this after noon and she had a ball, we went in her tahoe because she doesn't trust me jeep either. I was going to Broad Run with justin but first my parents said they wasent coming with me, second- the time we went up there it will be ice all over the road and we will be back in the dark which is colder, more ice, and black ice, and third i was having second thoughts about going because the first time i went there was alot of banging under her (which i haven't found out yet) and i am afraid that something will happen and if something would happen than my dad knows what happen and how to fix it so we decided not to go so my mom said since i didn't go to Broad Run than she wants to go on the mountain so we went. They cleared off some of the road going up there but when we got up top where there is gravel it turned into 4 wheel drive:wings: here are some pictures were we went.

But I did get the CJ out in the back parking lot and went trought some frozen mud holes and went through the snow. This was the first time the CJ have been in the snow so i dont kow what she is willing to do. When i get her fixed up and trust her 100% than i take her wheeling without having to worry about something wil happen and don't have to worry about the second thoughts. but here is a picture of her smiling ear to ear cause she is playing in the snow.
