I just put my 1993 YJ on the road for the first time today, and I am having a small issue. Sometimes I have 5 or 6 inches of clutch until it engages and other times I barely have an inch and it jumps forward as soon as I let off at all. Anyone have any suggestions for me. Thanks in advance.

I know nothing about YJ's but I'm going to guess you have a hydraulic clutch and hopefully it is a "external slave cylinder" type. I would try bleeding it and go from there.

I know some earlier YJ's w/ 6cyl that had the AX-15 tranny do have internal slave cylinders, can't remember cutoff year for external slaves. Check your clutch mastercylinder, if low, fill it up w/ standard brake fluid. As Jon suggested,to try bleeding the system. Does it react sooner after pumping the clutch, similar to what you would do while bleeding a brake system? Send me an email, I'd be happy to try and swing by to help diagnos the problem.

I'm pretty sure the slave cylinders switched over in '94 or '95 unfortunately.
