Well as some of you know i sold my old Rubi. Someone made the right offer. I thought i could stand not having a jeep but i spent countless hours at night not sleeping for guilt of selling it. So my wife decided she was ready for a new SUV and BAM!!!! it happened. Pics to come tomorrow.
Its a 4 Door Sport with a hardtop, Auto Trans, LS 44 rear with 3.73's and it has the power options package. (girly stuff)
I was going to wait for the penstar to come out but i never had any problems out of my 3.8 and it always had enough power for the wheeling i did. Plus i got a great deal on it.
Future plans:
33 a/t's
2 inch lift
Sliders
She is going to be a little mellow for a while but my long term build goal will be to get up Potts.
35's took the fun out of driving the rubi i had. No one will admit to it but to get those 35's to ride like stock it took $$$$$$$$$$$$$$ and headaches. I think ill run 33's for a while and enjoy the Jeep!

That's all you need for potts, as long as it has skid plates as well. I think you'll be good to go.

There is no way Id ever buy another 3.8 JK, they are wimpy little Jeeps. I suspect you liked the power of your Rubi because it was geared 4.10. A 4 door (much heavier) with 3.73's and 33's is gonna suck on the road.
Good luck, I would have kept the Rubi and put it back stock.

Rubi became useless. Couldnt fit my kid in it and my wife couldn't drive it. Plus I lost all interest in 4 wheeling. So it had to go. This will be family jeep. And you do make a valid point about those 33's and 3.73s. Maybe ill jsut leave it stock. We will see how well those pentstars do and if they seem worth we will trade her in!! Till then Tops off! and back to jeeping!

I think you have a better idea what you like. You didn't seem to enjoy the big rocks. Maybe it's because you were still making payments or because you're sane. That's why I love Howrey's CJ. He knows what he likes and built the rig for that.
I think the 4 door jk is a great idea. I'd regear it for a little bigger tire like Jon said. I think this is a good call. You can't beat a jeep for casual wheeling and family type rig/dd. All the comforts that you would need with capability for the mild to medium stuff. I think the jks look dumb with stock tires and wheels.
My wife wants one, but she wants to wheel it so I'd d a mild build on one. Don't know when this will be. I'm supposed to get a company car in a year or so, I have a daughter that will be driving in a year and a half so I'm sure we'll be doing a shuffle.

Yeah they do look stupid with the stock wheels. And you about nailed it on the head. I will def have to regear. While i was at the dealership they asked me if i wanted to order a 2012. The price of the Jk will increase $3050 because of the new engine. And he would not barter with me on price. So right now the real value is in the 2011. I saved $6000 buying the 2011 after 3 hours of "3.8 sucks" argument. SO if you dont mind the "Dog" the end of this year is going to be a steal on whats left of the JK's. Keep that in mind.
As for wheeling i always had the most fun on Potts. I do enjoy a good trail ride but i hated having to hold back. Im going to build this jeep alot different then my old one. I want capability to do potts but stock comfort. Should be a challenge.
