I recently bought a 98 tj wrangler sport 5spd 4.0. 138k miles. Anyway when you first start it in the morning after a few minutes of being on it runs rough. Then when you try to go it backfires,and sputters bad. If you just rev it up though it revs good,then does fine the rest of the time driving it!!! until you let it sit for a few then drive it again. It will once again do it. I'm throwing a P1494 Definition - Evap leak detection pump??? I'm so confused about this. The jeep runs great after a couple revs of the motor. I don't get it. I am mechanically inclined enough to fix the normal stuff,but I am not good at diagnosing problems. i don't have the money to take it to a garage right now. Any help would be appreciated big time guys!! by the way the exhaust manifold is leaking like normal too,but I didn't think that would hurt anything.
