Anyone have any experience mating a 231 case behind a 360?
Just thinking out loud :):)

Hey Chris
As far as using a 231 T-case behind an AMC era 360 V-8 all depends on the transmission you plan on using. A call to Advanced Adaptors will usually get you any combination of draive tran components you want to use. However there are off the shelf parts to run a 360,TF7272 or T400 with a Dana 20 case that will be much cheaper to use. A 300 could be used as well with an adaptor. The 20 and 300 are both a good choice and much stronger than the 231. The 300 would be the better of the two IMO, it has more after market support than the 20. I run a 20 in the Scrambler it is very strong, simple, and has a flat profile stock unlike the 300 that hangs down a bit. That can be corrected with a clocking ring though. Are you looking to use the old 231 case from the L J in the J-10 after upgrading the case?
Hope this helps, got any more questions or ideas give me a call.

I wouldn't put a 231 behind a 360. I don't think the chain will hold up to the torque and horsepower. I have a 300 out of my parts jeep if you are interested.
The gear driven 300 is much stronger.

I wouldn't do it. Get a D300 and flip it or just go with a 205.
