Yes it is open, it is located near the Jaycees Camp at Caldwell Mtn
I would NOT leave the gravel road and I would NOT so much as spin a tire up there. There have been way too many issues on that road.

best way to get to it if you dont know the area, is go to eagle rock on 220 and get on craigs creek road.. bout a mile up the road is ball field road on the left.. go to the end and stay straight on the gravel road and you will come to it..
ive been meaning to go down there myself, i say they have cameras everywhere.. plus with hunting season theres goin to be a lot of campers and hunters down there..
Are you trying to maybe get a group of people to go up there? I'd love to go up there and see what its all about

I drove the minivan through Patterson the last time I went, its smooth as a freeway with some minor water crossings which the Windstar negotiated with ease. Broad run can be run in a VW Rabbit if the water is low. They are both very scenic rides but there is no legal wheelin on either road. Remember it is hunting season and the hunters pay a lot of money to hunt for only a few weeks of the year. I stay clear of the woods except on Sunday during the season.
I hate to sound like some anti fun nazi or whatever but we do not need any more negative press around here for our past time that we all enjoy. So please stay on the designated road, take more trash out than you bring in and respect the laws.

yeah ive been running them roads for years, just like potts, its an open road so the hunters know that anybody can come thru anytime..yeah the roads aint much more than just gravel roads, but still fun if you never been on them..

YOU HAVE NO WORRIES MAN.. THERES NOT MUCH TO THESE TRAILS, JUST A FEW WATER CROSSINGS.. IT JUST DEPENDS ON HOW MUCH RAIN WE WILL BE GETTING, IS IF THE CREEKS WILL BE UP, PATTERSON CREEK, NOT SO MUCH A BIG DEAL AT ALL, BROAD RUN.. IF THE WATER IS UP A LOT IT WILL DEPEND ON IF YOU WANT TO GO THRU IT.. IVE BEEN THRU THERE WHEN THE WATER WAS UP AND IT WAS OVER THE HOOD A LIL BIT.. NOT TO BAD.. I SAY FROM RIGHT NOW YOU WONT HAVE ANY PROBLEMS AT ALL.. YOU WILL NEVER PUT IT IN 4 WHEEL DRIVE..
SO NO WORRIES MY FRIEND!!:2thumbsup:

Patterson Creek is nothing more than a scenic drive. It is a great way to get out with the kids and family for a bit but nothing that fits into the "wheeling " catagory by any means.
The two people whose posts in this thread that do the best for all of us are Chris(evolution) and Jon(xjtrailraider)
This is Chris's back yard from Potts on down and himself and others in the area work with the local forestry service often. Jon is has been at this even longer than me and Im pushing 15 years of playing in the dirt.:rolleyes-1:
Chris can tell you what is legal and what is not if you have questions and Jon can tell you why.
We have always left responsible wheeling up to any one that signs up and through people like both Jon and Chris as well as countless others we have never been let down.
So if you are new to this please explore a few trails and ALWAYS stay on the trail.
I hope to see you guys on one soon!:driving:
Later
Sean
