Please post up if you can make this run still. Sunday Feb 22, at 10:00AM we'll be meeting at Bonsack Walmart(460) and heading out at about 10:30ish. Please dress according to weather, bring plenty of food, water, etc... for the day. If you plan on playing in the mud, some towstraps may be a good idea...:D

...bring plenty of food, water, etc... for the day.
How long does this trail ride usually take?
I will most definitely be there.
I will hopefully have the Warn winch installed by then...

With a ton of playin it'll take maybe 3-4hrs. Drive to trail is about 30mins. Depends on how many rigs will be there, and how much mud everyone wants to play in... I've gone before with about 11jeeps stopped at everything, and took maybe 4-5hrs to from time we left to time got home. But I like to over-prepare for the "Uh-ohs" :D

I have not yet picked up my rockrails from a friend down in Bristol, should I be worried about my rockers getting a workout at Lignite if I don't go get them and put them on before the run?

its pretty much a stock friendly trail.there are some parts you might have to bypass but nothing major.nothing like potts(havent been to potts yet though).i still havent gotten skids though and i have been a few times.

No worries on your rockers on this trail my friend. Buzz has taken a bone stock TJ through it on pizza cutters with no problems.
Herrick be good to meet you and see that H1 finally. Brandon don't think I've seen you since the last time we went. . . sorry no shots of the tsunami ,we were behind the Jeep outta the line of fire. LOL

Rt 604 is the road between 460 and 220A going into Fincastle. Most of us are closer to going in on the 460 side, than 311. Everyone welcome to meetup at Bosack Walmart, or if your closer going 311 we can meet you at the trail head by about 10:45(this will allow time for everyone to meet, mingle, and stop for last minute gas, food, etc...)

We live off Burks Hill Road/122 before the Dday memorial on the left, the only house with two XJ's one red and the other white.

Ya know I thought they would give me a hard time, but so far I guess I have been lucky, they just look at me and go on about their business. I get more strange looks from regular people. lol But the funniest was when I took it to get it inspected. I pulled it into the garage and his pipe almost fell out of his mouth. He askes me " Do you think it will pass with no doors?" I said "Yes sir" Needless to say it passed ;)

Too bad the trail was closed, but it looks like you all had fun at Bobcat.
I was grinding off the old mounts on my 8.8, cleaned up my shop a little (still a mess!), and froze my arse off removing the t-case from the old XJ, and dumping more BBs in my front tires..... looks like you guys had more fun!
Hopefully I can make the next run :driving:

I had a ton of fun yesterday. It took a little longer to get out to Bobcat, but it was well worth the drive. It was my first time out with this jeep. I was amazed at how well it did. I did on 31's somethings my old 4runner wouldn't do on 33's.
I don't have any pictures of the trip but love seeing everybody elses.
Does anyone know what the last obstacle before the mud wholes is called? I believe it was the obstacle that the Xterra had to be strapped up. There were three ways up it, on the left was easiest, on the right, or up in between two trees. I wish i had a picture going up between the trees.

Fried the battery in the jeep... That mudhole that stalled me out, took it's toll on the battery. Stopped at convienence store on way home, and jeep wouldn't even click the solenoid. Luckily someone was nearby with jumperbox. Get about 1/2 to 3/4 home, and Oil Pressure dropped drastically to about 5-10psi. Motor has 177,300 miles on it, and has been well abused over the last 14yrs. It's blowing oil from the dipstick tube. That wasn't caused by bobcat, but it sure didn't help. I got some wicked plans in store for the motor dept.... :sFun_tease:

Dang... Matt and I were going to run Bobcat yesterday by ourselves, thinking you guys were on LIgnite. We decided it'd be too cold to go and Julie and I took her brother back to Harrisonburg instead. I saw Jon on 81S near the weigh station in Roanoke on our way up.

I was headed home, I didn't want to drive all the way up to Bobcat yesterday. I went through Patterson Creek and wasted some gas.

Bingo.......Actually she did wash it when we got home!!!! I really didn't want her to hit it because she is the determined type. Frodes(really sweet frickin ride) didn't completly make it thru because of the tag incident. I knew if she tried and got stopped she would hit it that much harder. She likes the skinny pedal a little too much and I think its genetic. Her mom wheels the same way. I had a flashback to a recent hole she hit that water/mud was over the bumper on the jeep and I cringed a little. Believe me I have had to hear about this. It was the only hole other than the last one (the Ram was the only one to attempt) that she didn't do. Eric thanks again for the ride and I'm really diggin the JK. It was nice for her to have a little father/daughter wheelin' time. Plus we all three built the jeep last spring and he likes it as much as we do. We will eventually beat on it good but it hasn't been built for to long. Guess I need to do a build thread because believe it or not we have done lots to that jeep.

Nope, I never posted it. Our van took a hit and was totaled. We are keeping it and getting it rebuilt. We don't want a car payment right now with the way things are going with our jobs.

Well that sucks, hope it wasnt hit too bad. It seems like the insurance companies are quick to total a vehicle these days with the astranomical cost of body parts, ect. A friend was hit (tapped) from behind and it did about 4K ( crinkled bumper and rear quarter panel) . The insurance co. totaled it...2007 Civic. They are fixing it themselves.
No offense to the van, but glad the Jeeps are ok! ;)

No kidding! If it were the black XJ, i would still be crying!
I hate the van but we just do not want a car payment right now and I do not want to go down in years or up in mileage for another vehicle that will haul the family. I need a tow vehicle but that will have to wait.

Thanks Paul, yep everyone is OK, I was shot gun and we hit on the passenger side so I took the most of the impact of everyone. It was actually kind of like off roading in a way! Just felt like a hard hit on a rock at Potts:D
