From what I understand most of the aftermarket manifolds for the 4.0 are of poor quality. The stock manifolds aren't bad, they are not your typical cast steel ones. In this area you will get what you pay for. Everytime I have bought a manifold for something when I have gotten a cheap one versus a good one I have been dissappointed.

On a side not I welded mine with no problems. Been about 3 years now. A friend owns it so that is how I keep track of it.

I welded mine while it was still in the Jeep, I used mirrors and removed what I could in order to get around the crack. Its still holding and that has been 2 years.

everyone else i have read about welding theirs back up had it crack a couple months or maybe a year down the road.a couple people in another forum went with the omix and havent had any problems so far years later.it has ridges in it to help flex with the heat, etc.

I suspect that alot of people don't know how to weld.

I would have lover to watch Jon weld that thing in the jeep. I can picture his legs sticking straight up out of the hood, feet flailing in the air.

True, my welds look like like crap but always seem to hold up.

Thats about the way it was and I also laid under the Jeep to get at it from the bottom, nothing like getting showered with weld slag:D

I wasn't refering you your welds.:2thumbsup: Your welding is good.

I was refering to his statement that he has heard that the welds don't hold.

I know, i was referring to the same thing, a weld can look like crap and hold and look great and not hold, its all about the preparation/penetration.
