Thanks to the ongoing efforts of Paul (blue water rider) we now are in the sign up stages for the Forestry service chain saw certification course.

Paul has been in contact with John Hairfield of the USFS and he would like to know when we would like to schedule the class. Classes are limited to 12 people and are held over the course of 2 days. Usually a Sat and Sun.

Looking for people interested in this course and a time frame that will work for all. Post up with a time frame that will work and lets sort this out.
I will update this thread as more sign up.

If you see Paul out . . . buy that man a beer. He's been busting his arse on this one for awhile.

Thanks

Sean

Scheduled to attend

Paul (Bluewaterrider)
Michelle (Dazydog)
Michelle's other half (jeep addiction enabler)
Sean (Scrambled)
JT (YJextreme)

Are your classes already scheduled? or is that what we're trying to determine? Count me in, I'm generally always free on weekends, esp w/ OT dried up at Work.

Date for classes has not yet been set.

Wanted to get a date that would allow for all parties interested to attend.

Looking for my darn calander . . . . how's April 4rth and 5th sound to everyone?
If this date is exceptable or not let us know.

Thanks
Sean

Added you to the list bro.:thumb:

April 4-5 looks good for me. Add my other half to the list of attendees. Is there any idea on the cost? Eager to hear the details as they become available.

Should be interesting.. ;)

Big thanks to Paul, I will buy you the first beer! http://www.clicksmilies.com/s1106/ernaehrung/food-smiley-004.gif

I think the class is like $60 to $100 for the group.

This date is OK for me know.

I know Chris Rutherford is in the process of setting a class up for the NRV Jeep Club and if they only get about 6 or 7 people and we get 6 or 7 then maybe we could split the cost of the class ??

The NRV Jeep Clubs annual party at Duncan Jeep is this Friday night the 20th and I will talk to Chris about possibly combining clubs for this class.

Heineken please !

I am interested. I don't think I could give a definite yes right now, but I could definitely use some training on use of a chainsaw. I won't pretend I have used proper procedure operating a chainsaw in the past....:sSc_eek2:

So if there ends up being a remaining spot in the class and the date is open for me I will take it.

I need to get a head count again for this class.

I talked with Chris Rutherford at the NRV Jeep Club party/meeting today and he thinks it's a good idea for both clubs to try and combine this class and split the cost.

The NRV Jeep Club has 7 or 8 and the class can be around 12 people.
So speak up so I can get this in motion.:driving:

thanks,
paul

I am in for sure depending on the date. I have a lot of things coming up, surgery, traveling, ect so if you can nail down a date that would be great. My hubby Bob was interested, but he can sit this one out if there isnt room, I guess he could be a fill in. :)
Thanks Paul!

LOL, well I can start one! I would say somewhere in between beginner and intermediate ( closer to beginner I guess). Most of my experience is ground work, limbing and cutting up after the trees are on the ground. I am familar with proper notching and felling techniques. I have only cut down one on my own though..

Bob is intermediate to advanced.

As far as dates, you guys decide as our schedule is pretty busy for April and May.

I assume we bring our own saws and saftey equipment?

Talked with Chris from NRV Jeep Club and they have 6 wanting to take the class and this includes me.

So SCC has room for 6.

Where is everyone?

No set date yet. Have to finish head count and get experience(s) then get back with Instructor then ( I think) he will give us dates/weekends to choose from.

So far I got

Scrambled
Daizy Dog
Project Punisher
Rubican
Flash to Pablo ( Maybe)

Got room for 1 more.

If there isnt anyone else from SSC that wants the spot, my hubby would be interested. He would be classified as intermediate - advanced. However it all depends on the date as to whether we can be there for sure.
Thanks!

I just received this e mail from Ranger John Harifield who will be teaching the class.

Sorry for taking so long to respond. I have been having computer problems.
Between me taking a weeks vacation and some mandatory training May is pretty much over for me. If you guys would like to pick a weekend in June to do the training I think I could accomodate you. There is no fee. As I said before, the first day is mostly classroom. The end of the 1st day , I like to just go out and fire the saws up,do a little demo, and just get a feel for what we talked about. The second day each student will get a chance to do some sawing and hopefully demonstrate what they learned. You folks will need to have gloves, work boots, and safety glasses if you have them. First day , we'll be here at the District office and we'll have opportunity to go into town to get lunch or you can bring a lunch. On the second day you should bring something as we'll be in the Forest.
I like to start about 8:00 and go until we're done.
Give me a weekend and we'll try to get started.

John

Remember that we are doing this class with the NRV Jeep Club so the majority of both clubs will rule on the weekend that is picked for this class.

I am voting for the first weekend of June the 6th and 7th.
The longer we wait the hotter it's gonna get.

PLEASE Post your vote ASAP ! ! ! !.

Any date in June except the weekend of the 13 works for us, like you said the longer we wait the hotter it will likely get. Thanks :thumb:

Sorry I haven't been following along on this very well, if another person is interested in the class please feel free to take my spot, if no one is interested when it gets closer and it is a weekend that i can go I will gladly take the class, as i am somewhere between barely being able to start saw and newbie. I know i won't be available the first weekend of June. The second and third weekends I should be available, unless a job conflict occurs.
Just let me know if someone else wants in and I will graciously concede my spot.

Paul have you heard anything about this? Though I'm currently unable to participate due to my health conditions, but if it's rescheduled for sometime in July I should be able to then.

Nothing yet.

But last time I talked with the Ranger and Chris Rutherford from NRV I think it is being pushed back to some time in July.

I talked to the ranger yesterday and if I heard right the class is this weekend for the NRV guys. I will be taking it next month as I will be out of town this weekend for disaster training.

I think maybe Chris at NRV just gave up on us with trying to do a group class. I am out of the loop now that I am on 2nd shift and can't get to any more NRV club meetings......I understand what he means when he says "it's like trying to herd cats"

Please let us know when you are taking it next month so the SCC mwmbers can try and get in on it too.

Thank you !
