    Default 81 CJ-8 (aka Lucky)

This Jeep started life as an 1981 CJ-8 Scrambler. As you can see theres not much Scrambler left LOL. It's been purpose built for function over form.
I bought this from Jim Rutkofske in Michigan. Very impressed with the capabilty but as with every thing else you have to make it your own. Have a few changes in mind later this season.

    Specs
    81 CJ-8 84 259 I-6 with Howell TBI

    78 J-20 T-18 4 speed with granny gear 6.32 to 1 first gear

Dana 18/20 hybrid T-case with tera low 3.15 kit

Rear axle 78 Ford dana 60 yukon 35 spline axles with full float big bearing kit, Yukon spool,5.38 gears,76 chevy 3/4 ton front calipers and rotors. Custom 3/8 steel diff cover.

Front axle 76 Dodge dana 60 35 spline inner and outers, detroit 35 spline locker,5.38 gears, ultimate offroad drive flanges, custom diff cover.

    Ran out of room.

Front and rear fox 2.0 reservoir shocks with 16" of travel

Rear double triangulated 4 link with 1 1/2 .25 wall DOM The anti squat is perfect! Alll links are Currie Johnny joints.

Front 3 link with panhard bar done with same DOM. All links are rubicon express.

39.5 x 14 R16 Iroks with trail ready bead locks

    Remote radiator,hand throttle,full cage,boat sided,full hydro steering,etc.
    6.32 x 3.15 x 5.38 = 107.105 to 1 crawl ratio.

Will be going through the fluids this week, installing winch and CB etc.

Planned mods from here include hercaline tub,new seats,re-work front end to get lights in but keep the up travel, relocate battery box, install storage console and tool storage, repaint gonna keep the sublime green though I think.
Tell me what you think guys and any ideas on reworking he front end for lights is welcome.

Very nice man. Just one suggestion, lose the I-Suk tires. I've NEVER seen a rig with those on it work well. TSL's or SX's are the best I've seen run. I'm sure the Irok's do ok out west, but here in the muddy east, you need a real tire.

I don't have any ideas for ya but I do have a N.O.S cj hood, grill and one fender(I think is is passenger side) that I can let go of for a good price. That is, if you need them.

The biggest problem I see is the loose nut on the steering wheel.

Sean, that is exactly how I want to build my next rig. With a check. Looks great.

Through trading, side work, and luck I have a total of $10,200 worth of parts trades and cash in the tow rig, trailer ,and the crawler and all of them are paid for!

As far as the loose nut behind the wheel . . . . . well some things you just cant fix!

That's a deal right there. Does that include the original purchase of hte xj. Either way that's some good horse trading.
