    Default Looking for SUV

Looking to buy a fairly inexpensive 4 door SUV obviously I am partial to Jeeps but wouldn't completely turn down anything if it was reliable. I see no problem with an XJ even though the wife isn't crazy about them. She does however like the Grand Cherokees. Just let me know if any of you run across anything. My budget is about $4500 or under. Thanks guys, I am also still looking for that transmission for the YJ too!!

Yea I saw that one, Ive looked at pretty much everything on Craigslist up to now. That one is a flood titled vehicle which I doubt I really want to get involved with.

This dealer specializes in XJ's. They go over each Jeep with a fine tooth comb before they sell them.

Good luck Mike... Me personally though with a low-flood in a Jeep, I'd be less concerned... I mean afterall we do take them through rivers, creeks, mud, rocks, etc... But i can see your concerns.

My question is what do they consider low flood? If it was just in the floorboards it wouldn't be to bad, might get a little smelly, but on a Grand there is a lot of electronics. You would be forever tracing gremlins.

If you look at it check up under dash in crevices and inside wire looms for silt, good sign water was deep.

I bought a 96 Bronco XLT that was a flood vehicle. Woody at Brambleton Imports picked it up for me at auction in FLA. I never had any issues with that truck and I never found any flood damage above the floor boards. I took Woody's word it was okay and he was right. I only sold that truck because we needed the money at the time.

If your going to buy something like that be prepaired to make repairs though, its a gamble.
