I had an '88. I liked it. You will want a WD hitch and sway control.

Well where to start... I've got a 1996 Ford Bronco Eddie Bauer Edition, was bought new in '96 with 29miles on it by my parents. I've taken over ownership with 159,160 miles, Has always been routinely maintained, now it will be turned to my tow rig.
Specs:
- 351W (5.8L) Automatic
- Factory towing-package
- Factory LSD 8.8 rearaxle
- Factory 4.10 gear ratio
- 32x10.50 Goodyear Wrangler A/T's
- Fully loaded options(good for 96model LOL)
Future Mods:
- Hedman Long tube headers
- Flowmaster exaust
- March Industriest Underdrive Pullies
- Heavyduty Trans Cooler
- Reese Receiver Class III
- Brake control box for trailer.
- Cold Air Intake
All of my mods aim at improving fuel econcomy and efficiency while towing. There wll also be some minor Cosmetic Mods. Will post pics soon.

Thanks for the tip Matt, will look into it. Need to redeck my trailer..so no real rush on the tow setup yet... not to mention the jeep takes priority over buying goodies for this.

I had a 95 5.0 that i loved, one of my favorite vehicles. I towed enough with it that I wouldn't buy one for a tow rig. It would pull anything and I towed my dad's 28' travel trailer to OBX a couple of times. But even with sway control and WD it was a hand full. Mine was a loaded out solid white (OJ version)XLT with the tow package and 3.73 gearing. I had a set of JBA shorty headers on it and true dual exhaust, cold air kit from K&N.
It could pull a stump out of a mule's a$$ but the short wheelbase made it an uneasy ride.

Yea... not my 1st choice in tow rig, but its Free, and been in the family since new & still a workhorse of a vehicle. Was going to sell it, but deal on a truck fell through (bank gave me bogus term info on my initial call). I'll only be pulling my 18ft dovetail trailer w/ jeep loaded. I'd love to run true duals but with the crazy Cat. setup on the 96's you can't... I spent several hours researching, so will just do headers back into 1 pipe w/ dual side exit.

I did my trailer for less than $200 plus stain. I have a bunch of self tapping screws left if you want. It's real easy.
That's the best kind. Free and no surprises.
My '88 was awesome. 302, duals. Mine was built by the owner of the retso shop I worked at. He grew up in So Cal in the 50's and 60's as a hot rodder. Mine would flat go. We used it to pull his car trailer all over the east coast and canada.
The sway control will really help. Get one of thos roof top tents mount it to the front of the trailer and you'll be great. you dont need that big of a trialer for the yj.
for the YJ no; but i rebuild antique cars.. Galaxies, Fairlanes, and a few others... Theyey take up the entire trailer when used to cart the to/from various shops. My deck boards are held in by diff channels in the trailer, screw free. Thanks again for the inputm
